DG Summer Scholars

Eligibility and Requirements

The DG Summer Scholars (formerly SALSA) is a 10-week research experience for students who took Biology 20 in the quarters listed below. During the 10 weeks, the students will learn research methods of molecular biology and bioinformatics while exploring the genetic variation of rice. Additionally, students will be introduced to the biotechnology industry by collaborating with Keck Graduate Institute professors and graduate students. Working in groups, participants will develop proposals to commercialize a new biotechnology being developed at UCR. At the conclusion of the ten weeks, participants in the DG Scholars Summer Scholars program will have developed laboratory skills in genetics and genomics and have a better awareness of career options for life science majors.
